How to Use Your Words Wisely When Speaking With Customers I

When it comes to sales of silver and fine jewelry, what you say, and how you say it, are important, as you deal with clients and potential buyers. Here are a few suggestions that will make the process of talking about your jewelry easy and enjoyable:

Make good eye contact. When you speak with a customer, be friendly and direct. Answer your customer's questions honestly and use a conversational tone. (Think of your new client as a friend, and treat her as such.)

Ask your client for information. What colors does she love to wear? Is she shopping for a special occasion? Is this purchase a gift? Will she wear the piece she's looking for everyday? Then, choose pieces to meet her needs, and describe those pieces to her, as you would any piece of fine art.

Choose your words carefully. Speak to your client in words that you are familiar with, words that make you comfortable. If it's in your nature to say, "I really love these earrings, don't you?" do so. The idea is to make natural conversation flow.
